Aaarrgh!

I just found out our local bead shop is closing its' doors. The liquidation sale starts Monday.

Say it isn't so!

Not now!!!

I don't have room in my house to store all the beads I want!!

I would buy the complete inventory of glass beads if I could. As it is, now I have to go through what I do own and see if I can identify any holes I could try to fill at sale prices. How do I know what I'm going to want to use 3 or 6 months from now???

This is the second business I love that has decided to call it quits in the last 10 days or so. I'm afraid of what may be next.

At least I'm in a position to drop a few coins in their bucket. Guess I'll go down and spend as much money as I dare in a final gesture of support and fellowship. {deep sigh}

Oh, sad news. There are other stores and online venues, too, but it's just not the same.

That's just awful, why do they do it? K.

This happened to me just a year ago. The only shop for many miles that you could touch and feel and get a fix. If all customers would spend just a few dollars a month in their favorite LOCALLY owned, any kind of shop, it would greatly help.

This is scary as we have lost many local shops around here and even a chain (JoAnn's) has closed up this past week. I wonder if, being a small university town, we just aren't "cut out" to have crafting specliality stores.

We do have a local bead shop but it never appears to be busy. I hope that isn't a bad sign (it's where a scrapbooking shop used to be and they never were busy either).

How sad for them... and you.... Good that you're in a position to drop a few coins in their bucket and bulk up your stash a bit. At least there's that lemonaide in the lemon...

Well, I did go yesterday and bulk up my stash a bit. I'll probably go back again after I've done a bit of inventorying of what I own. They were sort of surprised at how busy they were on the first unofficial day of their going out of business sale. The shop will be picked clean in no time at this rate!
