Woodland spirits in July

Finally done with my woodland spirit doll - sort of interesting how a busy month creates some of my nicest pieces. Odd - I'll have to ponder that.

Anyway, please go check her out - let me know!

I Am Not Meek!

OK, I think I've put off posting July's installment for long enough. It's on my BLOG, found by clicking on "Karen J" to the left. Sure wish I knew what I was going to do for August.....

July Ornament

Magpie Sue here. I've MIA for a while but have not abandoned the BJP by any means. I finished my ornament for April; still need to do a blog post about it. (It's going to be very anticlimactic when I finally do.) May is under construction, June is still in my head. But I just finished my ornament for July and I don't think I could be more pleased with it (well, maybe, but not by much!)

If I've piqued your curiosity hop on over to my blog. :- )

July BJP - Brillianze

I was fortunate enough to experience fireworks 2 nights in a row. The sky was dark and the colors illuminated the sky. The patterns and colors were amazing. Brillianze has a Swarovski crystal bead for the face of the doll. The silver beads represent the patterns seen in the sky while the black beads represent the evening sky. The circular belly area represents the perfectly timed firework in the sky There are also iridescent black beads on the side of the piece to give the creation different hues of color as they catch the light.

Storage and Display Idea

I've been wondering what I would do with my 12 BJP pieces when done, and it felt like a dilemma. I don't want them to get dusty, yet I want them to be available for viewing. However, today I found this 9" wooden cabinet with hinged door on a Jo Ann's clearance shelf for around $3.00 (after taking 70% off an already discounted price!). It's 3-1/2" x 5" dimensions are perfect for stacking my 3" x 4" BJP pieces. These 2 photos show my first 6 pieces inside with plenty of room for 6 more by year's end. I love the little cut-out star on the door. I have renewed interest in the year's projects now that I feel good about a way to store and display them!

BJP June by Robin Atkins, detail
My totem animal, rabbit, takes center stage on my June BJP piece. Come take a look here.

Yes, I'm behind again, after finally catching up in May. June's piece took hours and hours. But I have started July and hope to have it finished soon.

I'm also a bit behind in reading all the BJP blogs. That's the next thing on my list. You'll be seeing comments soon. Hope you're all having a lovely, beady summer (or if you're in the southern hemisphere, winter)...

July piece done with Cloisonne enamel

Hi all - I recently returned from camp where I finished my next 3 enamels for my BJP. Then I went to CA for my nephew's wedding (which was wonderful) and worked on my July BJP which I finished when I got home. This month has a Cloisonne enamel in it along with ribbon and thread embroidery. I specialize in Cloisonne so this one was dear to my heart. Hope you enjoy it. I show my next two enamels on the home page for the 2010 BJP.

July BJP - "Journey"

I've finished my July BJP - not without some delay, frustration and downright procrastination.  If you'd like, you can see it here.

May BJP AMD

A little teaser to whet your interest. I actually finished this a week or so ago, but didn't have a chance to take a picture. This one seems to explore some of my colour boundaries, but then again, it might explore other things......come on over to my blog to check it out!

June is busting out all over!

June is busting out all over...especially now that it is July. We are in a heat wave here, which extends all the way to the east coast. Good excuse to stay inside where it is cool and bead, so I've finally finished June and am ready to tackle July. See the hole piece on my blog.
