April 2010

My master plan for the 2010 Bead Journal Project was to match each month's needleweaving to the seasons here in Santa Fe.

April was a bit of an odd month. Winter one moment with grey skies & snow falling then the sun shining & birds singing 15 minutes later. But, in spite of the fact that winter doesn't really seem to want to let go this year, the trees are budding, the flowers are starting to bloom & the birds are building their nests.

Just Checkin' In

Magpie Sue here. Some of you may recall that in January and February I made two ornaments each (a diamond shaped ornament being my form of choice for this year's BJP). Well, since then I've come to a screeching halt. I have plans for both my March and April ornaments but haven't done more than create the foundations for them. I've been busy with other creative endeavors (I'm a quilter first and foremost I guess) and haven't been able to make time or room to play with beads. I'll get back on track eventually. I'll also be around someday to see and comment on the wonderful things I know the rest of you are making. Right now my mind is elsewhere. I'm just grateful that I have the maturity now to know that this is a phase and that I will get back to beading and reading the beader's blogs in time. There are a few perks to getting older after all! ;- )

April BJP - "Converge"

Hi everyone -- My April BJP is finished.  It turned out to be one of the most interesting (to me) pieces that I've done so far.  Both the word and the beading were challenges but I love a challenge (especially when beading) so it was fun.  You may check it out here artjourney.

April's Posting

I managed to finish my new angel before the end of the month. The coloring isn't right in the picture. I find that red is really hard to capture. Think red not fushia! I've been exploring everyone's pieces and I am amazed at the creativity that this group has. Thank you for inspiring me every time I look. Beautiful. Invitation

Hi Everybody!

I've been gone 6 weeks (pre-vacation, 2 wks in AZ, post-vacation and then the coughing virus... now finally, I'm back! I'm also seriously a behinder.... Today is set aside for catching up on BJP blogs. Tomorrow I promise you, I'll get to work on my March BJP... that's a PROMISE!

I replied to Sue that she's welcome to write about the BJP for her magazine. However, I have no control over the images posted by our members. I suggested to her that I would post her invitation on our blog and anybody who is interested can send her an image or two directly. So there you have it... I hope some of you will respond!

April done with crackle enamel

Hi all - just finished April's piece using a special liquid enamel called crackle enamel. This jewel also has a gold leaf design on it. The fabric for this piece was so pretty that I followed some of it's lines and swirls for my beading - most of the black beading was design of the fabric. That was fun. Now I have to work on making more enamels for my next few BJP pieces. Time to stop beading and enamel! Have a beady good day.

Sorry I haven't commented on all the recent posts

I've had a nasty cold which has fogged my brain and prevented me from doing anything creative. I want to thank everyone for allowing me to look at their beautiful work. It is such an inspiration!

The cold is clearing, the hacking couch is nearly gone, and today I finally finished my March page..

January 2010 BJP - AMD

So, my friends, have you wondering what I've been up to? My January BJP has been finished for a while, but I was having computer issues so couldn't post. The purpose of this little teaser is to invite you to visit me on my new blog at http://artfuldreamer.blogspot.com/ . As you can see, I've finally bitten the bullet and done the deed. I'm now a card carrying member of the personal blogging world. LOL! I still have a way to go with the formatting, but at least it's a start! By the way, it's now April, so it's officially okay to introduce a little colour to the BJP blogs.

I haven't started March yet, but I stitched the last bead onto February this morning. I'll post again tomorrow. - Anne Marie - Toronto
