May done - by the skin of my teeth

My goal is to finish - so although this was rush (hubby says I should name her Hasty) - she had some experimentation in her and some other issues I think I learned from. And a few things I liked.

You can see the rest of her at http://www.iamnotahandbag.com

Saguaro Symphony - May BJP

May is a special time in the Sonoran Desert when the giant sentinels, the saguaro cacti, bloom. Around mid-May, you may view the small "nubs" officially known as inflourescents, on the heads and arms of the saguaro. Shortly thereafter, each saguaro seems to receive the memo to begin their journey of bloom. Before too long, small white flowers can be seen throughout the Arizona desert. The bats, birds and bees love it. I have used my beads to imitate the saguaro in their finest.

Here's a little temptation photo. For full viewing, visit

April's finished!

I'm finished with April, and the full post can be found here. I didn't think I'd get quite so into "journalling" what is (or was) going on in my life, but I'm enjoying thinking about how to reflect the going's on in my life in a small (1 3/4") circle of beads.

May BJP Complete

May is done! It's a light and happy place to be this month. I'm pretty happy with it and it's simplicity. You can view it here.

Thinking about June already, but have not come up with anything just yet.

May 2010

Wow, I actually finished May's needleweaving for the Bead Journal Project early. You can see the entire piece here. I'm not sure what it is, but I love this focal stone. It was one of my finds at Ritual Adornments here in Santa Fe.

May BJP - "Symphony"

The word for May snatched out of my 'word jar' was 'symphony'.  It is up on my blog here. Being an 'encrusted' beader I almost felt as if I were cheating because I included a relatively unbeaded section -- but then that's what 'creativity' is all about -- going with your artful spirit and not necessarily sticking to the rules. I've really enjoyed seeing all of your BJP pieces for the year and look forward to each and every post.

March and April

Okay, two for the price of one. Two months that is. March and April, a little late but I won't worry if you don't. You can see the full pieces here. Thanks as always to Robin and everyone else who makes this project possible.

April BJP completed AND posted finally

I finally got to photograph and post my April BJP. I've had it done for weeks now, just haven't had time to get it online until now...

I had such a great time doing April's page. To find out how much fun take a peek here.

Onward to get May going and done. Enjoy!

A crazy cool new material

Here's what's getting in the way of me being able to get any work done on my May bracelet!  I'm already giving you an excuse, just in case I'm still obsessed with this new product at the end of the month ;-)  You can see more pictures and learn more about it here if you want.

April --- late!

I struggled with this as April showers really doesn't reflect April here this year. And we had May flowers well before May...

So "April Flowers" is posted on my blog but it needs some more work, I think...

Dot's April Secret Treasure

I had to wait for this story to come out. My Secret Treasure is a brooch my Great Grandmother use to wear to church. When she died, I picked this piece. I just couldn't find the story, but today when I woke up & realized it was Mother's Day, the story wrote itself about this wonderful woman who was my idol.

La Printemps - April BJP

The April BJP serves multi-purposes. It is a celebration of Don's (hubby) 65th birthday; the mirror serves as a reflection of time; the coming of spring and a trip to Washington, DC. The doll has 3 floral gardens in her belly which are indicative of my visit to the DC Arboretum. The doll also incorporates a moss agate cabochon, a fitting stone for Spring. The fringe uses seed beads and small daggers. The doll hangs from a simple Ndebele embellished necklace. Happy Spring!

Miracles do happen! My project for May is done and posted. I wanted something fast. There are too many other things I want to do!!

A very orange April

It was a crazy tumultuous month this month and my bead journal doll seems positively serene in comparison, but I still tried to incorporate feelings and emotions into her.
Oh, and orange is my favorite color!
