Cityscape - August BJP

The fog shrouds San Francisco during the day and eve hours obscuring the views creating a mysterious edge. At a magic hour, the curtain of fog lifts to unveil a beautiful cityscape, sun, sky and Bay. The TransAmerica, Coit Tower, Bank of America buildings strut their stuff. The blue lapis poses as a fog beacon to warn others.
The fog begins to swirl in the afternoon hours and will soon hide the City again. The Tiny Tims used on the fringe are the fog droplets left behind on your skin and everywhere you touch.
My recent trip to San Francisco (my original home)
was a memorable one.

Taking A Risk

My August BJP represents taking a risk. I took a risk in my own life and I took a risk with this page. To me, it's different than all of my other pages.

Come on over to my blog to see the whole page and to figure out how this page is different.

August BJP is on my blog!

Hi everyone!

BJP, Robin Atkins, detail of August piece
I just posted my August piece (detail above) here.

I've been missing on the BJP blog scene and feel very badly about it. The reasons are partly personal issues in my life right now and a ton of other obligations, projects, house guests, travel, etc. that have kept me waaaay too busy. There's more of all that on the horizon, but for the next three days, I hope plan to get caught up reading your blogs and seeing all the creative work being done in the BJP!!! And later this week, I want to will write another post about one way to finish BJP pieces that can give them a place in the fine art world.

Reminder... Once you have completed 8 BJP pieces for the year, you are eligible to put them on our BJP website on your own personal page!!! (Here's how your personal page will look... mine from the first year.) There are directions for how to send in your pictures on the website, here. (These are actually directions for last year's BJP, but they are the same for this year.) I look forward to seeing some of your pages and pictures soon. It's so neat to see them all together in a group, don't you think?

Please forgive my recent absence from active blogging... I'm sooooooooo excited to have a day to catch up and see your work!

Beady hugs,
Robin A.

August BJP - "Circular"

My August BJP is completed and up on my blog.  You may see it here.  This month's project seemed more like a task than a joy!  The colors that I used weren't my favorites and for some reason my fingers seemed to fight the beads all the way.  But here we are and now its on to September.

July BJP Finally Done

Better late than never, I guess. I had planned on being done early with this but that didn't happen. Between getting signed up for classes and then having to walk my 24 year old through the same thing and babysitting, there seemed to be no time. Plus, it got put away and it was a case of out of sight out of mind...

Well, here it is. If you'd like to look you can find it here. Thank you.

July is posted...

Here's the link to my blog. Plenty emerald, totally sparkly.

August piece done with Etched Champleve enamel

Boy, I'm really keeping up this year - my August piece is done. This month I did an enamel with the etched champleve technique. I drew this design on my computer and printed it onto PnP paper which is then ironed onto the copper as a resist for the etching process. For champleve, the etching takes about 4-5 hours to get a deep enough depression to enamel. After filling with enamel, the piece is ground flush and then polished. My thoughts on this one was love in my heart - thus the hearts and flowers theme. See my full piece here. So, on to the next one...

Have a beady great day. Karen
